MERCER COUNTY, Oh. (WANE) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey released new information Wednesday morning after a double homicide in a Fort Recovery home on November 29-30, 2011.
Grey said Sheriff’s Detectives and Ohio BCI&I continued to work on the homicide of the father and daughter, Robert and Colleen Grube, more than a month after it occurred.
Cassandra Grube found her father-in-law Robert, 70 and her sister-in-law, Colleen, 47, bound by duct tape and shot to death when she went back to check on them at their home at 2216 Burrville Road around 9:00 a.m. on the 30th.
Officials have also confirmed that Colleen was last seen alive shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Colleen and Robert were found about 16 hours later.
Investigators have narrowed the time of the incident to a two hour window, and also know that at least one male and one female offender were present when the homicides occurred.
There was also a laptop computer missing from the scene.
Since the last release of information on December 23, 2011, Grey said detectives and agents have conducted 17 interviews, bringing the total number of interviews to nearly 90 people.
They’ve also filtered through 15 new tips, bringing that total to 73.
17 new court orders/subpoenas were requested and issued, bring the total to 63.
And, one additional search warrant was issued bringing that total to 11, along with 17 new pieces of evidence recovered.
Sheriff Grey said while the don’t have all of the pieces of the puzzle, they’re beginning to try to put them together, “Murder has no statute of limitations, so we are gathering everything possible to help solve the crime now, in the event it is not solved in the immediate future, we need to have all the information to be utilized later. It is important to solve this case, but we have to ensure that we get it right. It is important to make an arrest, but we must be able to get a conviction, and we have to be absolutely certain we have the right offenders.”
Officials said they are still reviewing thousands of pages of information that has been recovered during the investigation.
