BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- A Bloomington man convicted of murdering and dismembering a woman in 1986 has been released from prison after serving less than half of his 60-year sentence.
Fifty-seven-year-old Robert E. Lee was released Saturday from the Branchville Correctional Facility and driven to a parole office in Bloomington.
Indiana Department of Correction spokeswoman Amy Lanum tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/QaDxfV ) Lee was immediately fitted with a GPS ankle bracelet so his whereabouts can be monitored. She says DOC officials then took Lee to a residence.
The DOC did not disclose that address, not even to local police.
Lee served 25 years for murdering 31-year-old Ellen Marks, whose head and hands were never found. He obtained early release by earning good-time credit and obtaining two vocational degrees and two college degrees behind bars.
