FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A Fort Wayne mother was sentenced to eight years behind bars for allowing her partner to abuse her two young boys.
Investigators say Nichole Gruss and her partner Tawoenya Portee had custody of the boys from from 2010 to 2011. That's when one boy told police that Portee used shoes, a belt, and a baseball bat to hit him. Both boys had broken bones.
Gruss and Portee were charged in April.
On Wednesday a judge sentenced Gruss to a total of eight years behind bars for neglect but suspended two of those years.
