Meth lab found in Ohio fugitive's home

DEFIANCE COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) – A Hicksville fugitive wanted on a meth manufacturing warrant tried to run from police once again and is now facing more drug charges after officers found a working meth lab inside his home Friday.

According to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, Sidney Smith, 40, ran from his home when officers showed up at 307 Elm Street to arrest him and was found hiding along some nearby railroad tracks in the Hicksville village. .

He was then taken into custody and further investigation found Smith had a working meth lab inside his residence.

Smith was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio and charged with illegal manufacture of drugs and for being a fugitive from justice from the State of Indiana.

Police said other criminal charges are pending.
