LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - After a Lafayette woman was found dead in her home, Indiana law enforcement agencies teamed up with Arkansas authorities to track down the suspect – who is now in custody for murder.
According to the Lafayette Police Department (LPD), on Thursday LPD received information of a possible homicide that had occurred in the 3700 block of McCarty Lane.
Officers searched the area and at roughly 11 p.m. that night, they found a 25-year-old Marisol Arze-Lujan dead in her residence.
LPD says her three children and their father were missing at the time her body was located.
A subsequent investigation provided information on a possible suspect, who was located and detained by authorities at roughly 4:30 Friday morning in Clark County, Ark.
Thirty-two-year-old Misael Sanchez of Lafayette was arrested for murder after he fled to Arkansas with Arze-Lujan's three children (ages 1, 7 and 8). All three children were located, as well.
Extradition is pending on Sanchez. The three kids were turned over to the local Clark County, Ark., Department of Child services (DCS) and contact has been made with our local DCS. LPD says plans are in the works to return the kids to family members.
An autopsy on Arze-Lujan will be performed by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office on Saturday.
