FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Michael Lewis pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter on Wednesday. The sentencing is scheduled for February 22.
On June 12, 2012, Lewis turned himself in after police charged him with the June 8 murder of Christopher Mhoon.
Mhoon, 27, of Fort Wayne, died of a gunshot wounds. According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, Mhoon was killed at the Cap n' Cork in the 5700 block of South Anthony Blvd.
Witnesses told police they saw two men verbally arguing with each other. The argument turned physical and one of the men shot the other multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene.
The probable cause affidavit stated that two witnesses from the scene and several tips from the public identified Lewis as the shooter from the store's surveillance video.
One witness said he gave two people, one of them Lewis, a ride to the Cap n' Cork store. He said the other passenger got in a fight with Mhoon and he tried to break up the fight but Lewis pushed him out of the way. He told police that he then heard six or seven shots.
The man then told police he ran out of the store with the passenger and Lewis and they all got back in the car and drove away from the liquor store. The witness said Lewis took off running once they got back.
