FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police are investigating an armed robbery attempt at the Pop Shop on West Main Street late Wednesday night.

Shortly before midnight, police were called to the small convenience store just west of downtown in the 1200 block of West Main Street.

According to police, a man walked into the store, at some point tripped, then pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded cash.

Police said the clerk yelled at the owner to, "grab the shotgun," and the man ran off.

The clerk then chased the man for several blocks before he got away.

Officers told NewsChannel 15 the man didn't get away with anything.

Police said the man was wearing a hat and had a bandana covering his face. No other suspect information was provided.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Anyone with information should call the Fort Wayne Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
