HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) - A Huntington man was arrested Sunday afternoon and is accused of robbing the Walgreens pharmacy on Jefferson Street in Huntington.
Police said around 12:30 p.m., they were called to the Walgreens for an unknown disturbance. When officers arrived, they found an armed robbery in progress.
Daniel Lee Scott, 39, of Huntington is being held in the Huntington County Jail on a pending Armed Robbery charge, which is a Class B felony.
Officers said Scott was trying to leave the store with an unknown amount of prescription medications, when he was taken down to the ground and held for questioning.
Police didn't say who stopped Scott, but Jim Bell told NewsChannel 15 that he walked into the store right after "what looked like a pharmacist had [the suspect] pinned down until the police showed up." Bell sent NewsChannel 15 the picture in this story using the Report It! feature.
Police did say officers were assisted by individuals inside the store. Officers also said pharmacy employees were threatened with a weapon, which was later recovered. But, the type of weapon involved wasn't released. No one was injured.
Huntington police were also assisted by Tom Kolb of the Indiana State Police.
This Walgreens was also robbed last November . Huntington Police Chief E.J. Carroll said the two incidents are not related and they are still looking for the suspect in the November robbery.
