Kitten abuser, Matthew Jerome, pleads guilty

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Matthew Jerome, the 22-year-old man who tortured Sparkle the kitten with fireworks in June, pleaded guilty to his charges on Thursday.

According to court documents, Jerome was charged with two counts of Torturing or Mutilating a Vertebrate Animal, a class D felony, and one count of Cruelty to an Animal, a misdemeanor.

Jerome's sentencing has been set for January 14, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.

Sparkle was adopted in October by Lynne Ticen, of Fort Wayne. Ticen was one of 12 local candidates that submitted an application to adopt the kitten.
