FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Joseph Kast was found guilty of murder Friday after he killed an 85-year-old man in June of 2002.

According to court documents, Kast, 33, stabbed Claude Berkshire several times inside his garage on Juliette Avenue on June, 24, 2002.

The case went cold until May of 2009 when police interviewed Kast and he confessed to the crime.

Kast admitted to robbing Berkshire after the stabbing and then tossing the knife into the Saint Mary's River. Investigators said Kast was able to provide details of the crime scene previously unreleased.

Kast was already serving 55 years for murdering a man in Huntington in 2002. Police said Kast was on drugs when he stabbed building inspector Earl Bowman to death on the construction site where Kast worked. Kast and Bowman did not know each other before the incident.

Kast's sentencing for the murder of Berkshire is set for January 11, 2013.
