Indiana man charged in killing family seeks release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (AP) -- A former Indiana state trooper accused of killing his wife and two young children is asking the state Supreme Court to release him while he awaits his third trial.

Attorneys for David Camm filed court documents Tuesday arguing he's been in prison for 12 years without a fair trial and will remain there for another year unless granted release. The motion argues that being in prison is hurting his ability to prepare for trial.

Camm had been a state trooper for more than a decade, but left the force about four months before his wife, Kimberly, and their children, 7-year-old Bradley and 5-year-old Jill, were shot to death in the garage of their southern Indiana home.

Appeals courts overturned jury verdicts that convicted Camm of murder in 2002 and 2006.
