INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The trial of a man accused of shooting an Indianapolis police officer in the head starts Monday in Valparaiso in northwest Indiana.

A jury of Porter County residents will decide whether 37-year-old Brian Reese is guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of Officer Jason Fishburn. The trial was transferred to the court 125 miles away after extensive media coverage in Indianapolis and is expected to take a week.

Fishburn was shot in July 2008 while chasing Reese on foot as part of a homicide investigation. Reese also faces charges in threehomicides that occurred in the days before the shooting.

Fishburn has resumed limited duties with the police department. He is expected to testify.
