Ind. ex-cop accused of having relationship with 15-year-old girl

RUSHVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- A former Rushville police officer who ran an anti-drug program in local schools has been charged with having an improper relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

The Rush County prosecutor filed charges of official misconduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor Friday against Cale Worley, who resigned from the city police department in August. He had been the local Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer.

The Associated Press could not reach Worley for comment Saturday because his phone number was unlisted.

The Rushville Republican reports (http://bit.ly/WLOVQL) the girl told investigators last August that she and Worley began exchanging texts and Facebook messages after she was involved in an incident at a covered bridge that led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man on a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

The girl said she would drive around with Worley in his patrol car and meet him secretly to talk about her sex life. She told investigators that she and Worley parked behind the local middle school about 1 a.m. March 28 in his patrol car while he was on duty. There were no allegations that Worley had sex with the girl.

The girl told police that her relationship with Worley ended after that night.

Rush County Prosecutor Phil Caviness said state police investigated the allegations.

Worley joined the department in the city about 40 miles east of Indianapolis in May 2008.
