WABASH COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A man was hospitalized with a broken arm, cuts and bruises after he fell from a tree over the Mississinewa Reservoir.

Officials believe Steven Suttles, 20, climbed the tree to get a rope in order to swing into the lake but then changed his mind and tried to climb back down.

Conservation officers with the Department of Natural resources and emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Suttles by boat to an ambluance across the reservoir.

According to officers, the ropes around the reservoir are routinely cut down to avoid this kind of dangerous activity. The rope on the Suttles fell from appeared to be a newer rope,

Mississinewa Reservoir has designated swimming areas and areas that are off limits to swimers. Conversvation officers remind those who wish to swim to make sure they are in the correct designated areas.

Conservation Officers were assisted on scene by Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Wabash and Noble Fire, Wabash EMS, and DNR Parks and Reservoirs Personnel.
