FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne police agencies have a new tool to fight crime.
The NEC Mobile ID Check is an automated finger printing identification system. The Mobile ID Check is the final phase of a justice assistance grant for implementing an automated fingerprinting identification system.
Mobile ID Check allows officers in the field to scan, collect, send and retrieve fingerprints, mugshots, suspect information and criminal histories over a wireless network.
Fort Wayne and South Bend are currently the only cities in northern Indiana to use this automated fingerprinting system.
