FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A man charged with murder for a February 2012 shooting was sentenced to 56 years in prison on Friday.
AC James Jr. was arrested in March 2012 , almost a month after the fatal shooting he was found guilty of. He was charged with murder, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness. He was found guilty on all counts.
According to the FWPD, Kyree Deqewane Ellis, 21, was shot while in a vehicle on Feb. 3, 2012 just before 11 p.m. when occupants of another vehicle opened fire. A woman called 911 and told police she was on the way to the hospital with a man that had been shot and officers met the woman and the victim at the hospital. Ellis was pronounced dead at the hospital.
