MUNCIE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 77 tickets at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana on Friday and Saturday.
August 18 and 19 was Ball State University's move-in weekend. 57 tickets were issued that weekend as students were moving back onto campus.
On Friday, August 24, excise officers cited 30 people on a total of 33 charges. These charges included illegal consumption of alcohol, minor transporting alcohol, possession of false ID, public intoxication and various traffic offenses.
Two adults were cited for providing alcohol to a minor and one juvenile under the age of 18 was detained for illegal possession of alcohol. The juvenile was also charged for resisting law enforcement when he ran from the excise police.
A Muncie liquor store called Be Here Now was cited for purchasing alcohol from another retail permit holder. Indiana law requires that beer, wine, and liquor must be purchased from a licensed wholesaler.
On Saturday, August 25, excise officers cited 26 minors on a total of 30 charges. These charges included illegal possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of false ID, public intoxication, minor in tavern or liquor store, and various traffic violations.
Four adults were cited for providing alcohol to minors and one adult was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
One of the arrests made on Saturday was of a 19-year-old Ball State student who had a blood alcohol content of .22%. That is almost three times over the legal limit of .08%.
Everyone cited on August 24 and August 25 will appear in court on later dates.
