WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) – Warsaw police resorted to tazing a drunk and belligerent man after he allegedly lead officers on a chase through Warsaw and then proceeded to fight with them after he got out of his vehicle early Monday morning.
According to the Warsaw Police Department, the incident started when officers tried to pull over a driver who was allegedly speeding and driving left of center on South Buffalo Street around 4:45 a.m.
Even with lights and sirens activated, police said the driver showed no signs of slowing down or stopping and continued to speed away down County Road 200 South, Ferguson Road and County Road 250 South.
When the driver finally stopped at the Hideaway Hills Mobile Home Park, police said he got out of his car, but failed to comply with the officers’ commands.
After acting belligerently and appearing intoxicated, the officers tazed him and took him into custody.
Gerardo Montes, 22, of 2441 W. 250 South, Lot #20, was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail where test results showed he had a blood alcohol content of .10%.
Montes was preliminarily charged with operating while intoxicated and felony fleeing law enforcement.
