FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Police Department arrived to an apartment at the 1600 block of Bayview Drive around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in response to calls that a man and woman were arguing and things were being thrown out an apartment window.

The woman was able to leave the apartment and told officers that the man in the apartment, Michael Stots, 38, of Fort Wayne, had become "angry and aggressive with her." While she was able to leave her apartment, Stots remained inside and would not leave.

Officers tried to talk to Stots at the door of the apartment but he refused to come out. The Emergency Services Team (EST) was called to the scene as it had become a barricaded subject incident and officers beleived him to be a danger to others and possibly himself.

Once EST arrived, Sots surrendered on his own without incident. He is facing charges of strangulation, a class D felony, and battery, a misdemeanor.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
