Dispatch describes latest shooting as "Utter Chaos"

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police investigated a stabbing and shooting on the city's north side early Sunday morning in a series of events police dispatch described as "utter chaos."

Police were called to a report of a stabbing at Piere's, a nightclub on Saint Joe Road, around 3:30 a.m.  The crime resulted after an altercation inside the bar.

One male victim was transported by medics en route to a local hospital in serious condition. Three of the victim's friends and family followed the ambulance on the trip driving a black Chevy Impala.

During the transport, four people in a white car pulled alongside the friends' vehicle and opened fire injuring all three people in the other car.

The white car continued and shots were also fired at the ambulance. An advanced EMT who was in the back of the ambulance during the shooting had bullet fragments embedded in his left elbow, forearm and superficial injuries to his midsection.  No one else in the ambulance was injured. The ambulance continued to the hospital.

After being shot, the three victims in the Impala that had been following the ambulance pulled over at the Marathon at the intersection of Coldwater Rd. and Washington Center Rd. to receive treatment.  Police said they were in serious condition at the scene.

The driver of the ambulance was able to provide a good description of the vehicle suspected in the shooting.  The suspects' white passenger car with tinted windows was spotted at the McDonald's located at Fairfield Ave. and West Jefferson Blvd.

An Allen County officer caught two of the four suspects after a short chase.

All four occupants of the white car were eventually taken into custody.

Police confirmed that the shooting and stabbing are all related.  Investigators said witnesses would be interviewed along with victims and suspects.
