Suspect in robbery caught after 20 minute car chase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, a single suspect entered the CVS on the 6200 block of St. Joe Center Road.

He demanded Opana from the pharmacy with a handgun and took off in a car.

An off-duty FWPD Officer located the car on Wheelock Road and a car chase ensued. The pursuit lasted about 20 minutes.

While the police pursued the suspect, officers with the Allen County Sheriff Department used a tire-deflation device (Stop-Sticks) along the an anticipated route of the suspect's car.

The suspect drove over the Stop-Sticks and continued to drive drive until he finally stopped in the area of 14800 Parent Road near the intersection of Bruick Road.

The driver/robbery suspect, Brandon A. Peters, 24, of Fort Wayne, was taken into custody at that point. Charges are pending. 

There were no collisions or injuries reported during the pursuit.

This incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
