FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The Allen County Coroner released the name Sunday of the man killed by a Fort Wayne police officer early Saturday morning.

Following an autopsy performed Saturday afternoon, the Allen County Coroner’s Office determined Antron L. Pearson, 31, of Fort Wayne, died as a result of a gunshot wound after he was shot by the officer outside Broadway Joe’s in the 2500 block of Broadway earlier that day.

Police were called to Broadway Joe’s around 1:18 a.m. Saturday on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they shot and ended up killing Pearson. Officers said they did find a weapon near him.

As part of standard procedure, the officer involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation.

Details of what circumstances led to the shooting are not yet available. This story will be updated with more information once they are released.
