FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A Fort Wayne woman has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for crash that killed an elderly couple in May 2012.
Corina Hurtado pleaded guilty to felony charges in November after she was was accused of hitting and killing two people in May while drunk and high on cocaine.
Hurtado received 20 years each for the two charges of Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Sched. I or II Controlled Sub; one charge for each person that died in the May incident. All other charges were dismissed.
She has also been ordered to pay $25,270.10 in restitution to the families of Harold E. Bebout, 79, who died at the scene of the accident and Starr Bebout, 74, who died at a hospital several days later.
She has been given 234 days of credit for time served. After her release from prison her drivers license will be suspended for five years.
