TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A northern Ohio attorney is asking a federal judge to order a competency exam for an Indiana man who wants to withdraw his guilty plea to starting a fire at a mosque near Toledo.
Randy Linn, of St. Joe, Ind., asked the judge to change his plea in January, saying he made a mistake. Linn's new attorney says in court documents filed Wednesday that it's not clear whether Linn was in a sufficient state of mind to be convicted of setting the fire.
Linn told a federal judge in December that he set the fire at the mosque near Toledo because he wanted revenge for the killings of American soldiers overseas.
He later said he was in an emotional state and depressed when he pleaded guilty.
