FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Police Department arrested Alex White, 47, of Fort Wayne, on Thursday afternoon in connection with a robbery at a bank on Wednesday.
White was arrested in the 2100 block of Eden Street by the FWPD. He faces a class B felony charge of robbery.
According to the FWPD, the quick identification and apprehension of White was facilitated by the tips received from the public after the picture of the suspect was disseminated to the media.
Around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to reports of a robbery at Wells Fargo at 3902 S. Clinton St.
Investigators said a black man entered the bank, demanded cash with a knife, and left out a side door.
Several customers were inside the bank during the robbery but no one was reported injured.
Police attempted to track the suspect with a K9 but were unsuccessful. They released stills from surveillance footage and asked the public's help in identifying the suspect shortly after the robbery occurred.
