KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man at gunpoint on Monday after he was caught breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s residence armed with two handguns.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of a burglary at the 6500 block of East Pierceton Road shortly after noon on Monday. Deputies immediately noticed that the door to the home was shattered.
The suspect, later identified as Troy Michael Frieden, 38, of North Manchester, soon exited the home, covered in blood. He was held at gunpoint until deputies took him into custody.
Frieden had two handguns on him, a .22 caliber Browning and a 9 mm Smith & Wesson.
The Sheriff's Department said it appeared that Frieden had broken into the home through a garage door, cutting his hand in the process.
Once in, Frieden shot into the engine compartment of one of the cars parked inside the garage. He then went through the house, looking for his ex-girlfriend leaving a trail of blood from his cut hand.
Frieden shot at two televisions in the house and broke several glass objects. The victim was not present at the time of the break-in; officers at the scene believe the outcome could have been drastically different had she been at home.
Frieden was treated for his cuts at the Kosciusko Community Hospital before being taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, detectives are looking for potential charges of felony burglary with a deadly weapon, intimidation with a firearm, and criminal recklessness.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted during the investigation by the Winona Lake Police Department and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
