Accused drug dealer charged with homicide

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A November death of a woman who died of morphine toxicity has led to an arrest and charges of drug dealing and homicide, according to the Huntington County Prosecutor. 

On November 25, 2012, officers responded to a 911 call at a Roanoke home for a woman that was not breathing. Annette Veach, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials determined her death was due to morphine toxicity.

Officials investigated Veach's death for three months and arrested Christy Oden, 40, on Thursday. Oden faces the following charges in connection to Veach's death:

  • Count I, Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a class B felony.
  • Count II, Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a class B felony.
  • Count III, Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a class B felony.
  • Count IV, Reckless Homicide, a class C felony.

Oden's initial hearing is scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2013, at 8:45 a.m. at the Huntington Superior Court. Bond has been set at $70,000.
