Shots fired during domestic dispute

WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) A Warsaw man is facing felony domestic battery and intimidation with a deadly weapon charges after police said a physical fight escalated and shots were fired.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and Warsaw officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Westhaven Estates Mobile Home Park at the 3700 block of W. Old Road at 1:21 a.m. on Friday.

Officers found a woman with minor injuries in a mobile home who had apparently fled from a shooter. The victim told police the shooter was Joseph Amanuel Hettinger, 33.

According to the victim, a dispute between her and Hettinger escalated to a physical fight that resulted in minor injuries for both. She said she then left the home after Hettinger said things that made her fear for her life.

Witnesses told officials that Hettinger had gone to the home the victim had fled to and threatened the homeowner with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Hettinger faces preliminary charges of felony domestic battery and two counts of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon. As of Friday, he was being held without bond at the Kosciusko County Jail.
