Pursuit suspects now charged with murder

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Two men arrested after shots fired at a Sunoco gas station led to a police pursuit have now been charged with the murder of Antonio Galvan III, 28, of Fort Wayne. Galavan was shot and killed less than three hours before the incident at the gas station.

Augustus S. Marshall, 27, and Jose J. Lopez, 23, both of Fort Wayne, have both been charged with murder.

Police were called to the scene at the 3000 block of McDonald Drive around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday and found one man suffering from a gunshot wound. Galvan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 4:00 a.m. that same morning, police said shots were fired at the Sunoco gas station on Coldwater Roa d.

According to police, officers spotted the vehicle described by the gas station clerk and attempted to perform a routine traffic stop, but the suspects would not pull over. The suspects then led police on a pursuit that ended on Brown Street when the suspects' SUV crashed into another car.

The suspects then fled on foot and broke into a neighboring home on the block.

"When they forced entry into the home, they set off her alarm system and woke her up as the officers were in the area looking for the suspects," said Sgt. Mark Brooks of the Fort Wayne Police Department. "She realized the suspects were in her house and notified the police."

Two suspects, who police now confirm were Marshall and Lopez, were arrested in relation to the police pursuit.
