FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Police have arrested two people in connection with an attempted armed robbery at the Chosen Christian Beauty & Barber College on Georgetown N. Blvd.

Officers were called to 6422 Georgetown North Blvd. around 1 p.m. Tuesday after witnesses said a man entered the school and demanded cash while brandishing a handgun. The man's face was concealed.

"He has a gun, that's the only thing that popped in my head," said Tiosha Ward, a student at the school. "I just saw the shiny object."

The suspect was unable to get any cash and left the business through the back, got into a car, and left the scene. No one was hurt.

"I'm thinking when I see on TV, I see a robbery," said Latasha Wright, an instructor at the school who witnessed the hold up. "I'm thinking people with a gun waving, get down, this is a stick up. He was not like that. He calmly walked in, held the gun to his side the whole time, and asked for the money, then when he didn't get it, he walked around and walked out."

Thanks to several witness descriptions of the getaway vehicle, police located the car in the 3500 block of Reynolds Street. When an officer attempted a traffic stop, one person jumped out of the car and tried to run away but was quickly caught by police in the area.

Deshawn T. Boykins, 19, faces a felony charge of Robbery as well as a charge for Resisting Law Enforcement. Boykins also had an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation.

Eligha L. Billingsley, 29, is charged with Robbery.

Police said they normally see more robbery attempts around the holidays because people are looking for access to quick cash.
