ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE)  Police believe an Angola man left a two-year-old home alone while he went to burglarize a house on Lake James.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home a little after 11:30 Thursday morning to investigate suspicious activity. Deputies found evidence that someone had gone into the house but had possibly left barefoot after being interrupted by the homeowner.

Through the investigation, deputies located and began speaking with Dustin Cook, 29, of Angola. Probable cause was developed to arrest Cook for residential entry, as no items were believed to be missing from the victim's residence. Cook was also arrested for child neglect. Police said he was caring for a two-year-old child at the time, and had left the child alone while he went to burglarize the home.
