FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- A Fort Wayne man will face federal drug charges after police found over 300 marijuana plants growing in his home on Sandpoint Road Thursday.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department (ACSD), when an officer showed up at 3830 Sand Point Road to serve civil papers, the home reeked of a strong odor of raw marijuana.
After about a two-week investigation, police searched the home and found a very large indoor hydroponic marijuana grow operation with 304 plants in various stages of growth. Police said the plants had an estimated street value of $500,000.
ACSD said detectives also found a stolen 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
As a result, James E. McClurg, 46, was arrested for receiving stolen parts. Due to the amount of marijuana found, he will now face federal charges. Police said a hearing will be scheduled to determine what exactly those will be.
