INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two people are dead in an early morning shooting following a rap concert on the northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday.
Just after 2:40 AM Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were called to a shooting at West 38th Street and North Georgetown Road. There were multiple 911 calls reporting a person inside a vehicle at that location had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a green Ford with two persons suffering gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians arrived and pronounced one victim dead, and a second was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition. That victim later died as well.
Homicide investigators and the coroner's office are attempting to positively identify both victims and notify their families.
The gunfire erupted just as fans were leaving a rap concert at nearby "Cloud 9" Club. Investigators believe the victims may have been leaving the nightclub just prior to the shooting.
There was a large police presence in the area prior to the shooting because of concerns over crowd control related to the concert.
