BUTLER, Ind. (WANE) - Police in DeKalb County are calling it the largest pot bust in recent memory inside their county.  The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department seized more than 100 marijuana plants from a home in the area.

On Monday, around 10:45 p.m., the DeKalb County Sheriff's office, Indiana State Police, and Department of Homeland Security acted on a tip of a marijuana operation in the 6800 block of County Road 34, outside of Butler.

According to police, the grow operation was using a sophisticated hydroponics system to water the plants. Some of the larger plants were estimated to be around four feet tall and $4,000 in value.  Police think the entire operation was worth about $100,000.

"All of it looked like it had been fertilized rather well and it was a pretty impressive operation," said Sgt. David Cserep with the Dekalb County Sheriff's Department.

The resident was not home at the time the search warrant was executed.  Police are looking for the man for questioning.

Shari Fry lives next door to the house that was busted and said she wasn't surprised.  Fry said she saw lots of suspicious people coming and going all the time at the home, saying most of the time they didn't stay very long.  She's glad the pot is out of her neighborhood.

"A school's only a mile and a half down the road so it's a good thing that it's now over with," Fry said.  "There are lots of kids in the neighborhood so I'm glad it's over with."

If you have any information, call the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department at (260) 925-3365.
