FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A home was damaged in an afternoon fire at 429 W. Maple Grove Ave. in Fort Wayne.

When firefighters arrived a little after 12:30 p.m., they found heavy flames coming from the back of the home. The fire was spreading to the houses on each side of it.

It took firefighters about 35 minutes to get it under control.

Fire officials said the home had heavy fire, smoke and water damage.

NewsChannel 15 spoke with the people who live in the home. They said they were watching TV when they noticed flames in the kitchen.

They said a FedEx employee was in the neighborhood and helped the elderly woman out of the house.

No one was injured in the fire.
