FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Folks in Rockford, Ohio said they can breathe easier now that a fugitive has been arrested.  U.S. Marshals found Daniel Martin Wednesday in Fort Wayne.  Police said he was wanted for killing Melinda "Mindi" Shinn in Rockford, Ohio on November 8, 2012.

Police said Shinn was shot to death in her mobile home.  Martin was said to be Shinn's boyfriend and Thursday, a neighbor shed light on their relationship.

“It was just a relationship that wasn't good and she tried to end it.  But she always kept going back,” said Larry Ford, who lives near the crime scene.

U.S. Marshals found and arrested Martin Wednesday in the 6100 block of Bowser Avenue in Fort Wayne.  The news spread fast to folks anxiously waiting in Rockford.  Folks living near the crime scene are understandably thankful Martin isn't on the loose anymore.  They hope the arrest will bring closure to a crime they haven't seen the likes of in recent memory.

“It is a lot of relief,” said Erica Buckner, who lives near the crime scene.  “You don't have to stress about wondering if he's going to walk by here, come in your house and just knowing he's finally in jail is great.”

Ford agreed with Buckner and thinks the entire community in Rockford is pleased with the arrest.

“Hopefully things will end up the right way and we'll have some closure on it,” Ford said.  “I don't recall anything like that other than minor break-ins or something like that.  No major tragedies like this.”

Officials said Martin was staying with his cousin in the Fort Wayne home where he was found.  But U.S. Marshals don't expect anyone he was staying with to be charged.
