FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A week after the Momper Insulation fire, crews are still in the middle of the cleanup process.
The fire sent a huge plume of black smoke into the air and it took firefighters days to get the flames all the way out.
Sunday, piles of burned remains still sit in the lot. Excavating crews are in the middle of hauling it away. They anticipate working until at least the middle of next week.
There's also still a filtering system set up in Junk Ditch. It's cleaning the water where some of the fire runoff went. After it's filtered, the water will go through the city's sewage treatment plant before going back into the rivers.
The water cleaning process will take several more days.
