FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Allen County Sheriff's Deputies found Robert Michael Brookens, 17, of Fort Wayne safe at a truck stop on U.S. 30 around 1:30 Friday morning.
They found him at the Travel Inn Truck Stop at Coliseum Blvd. and Goshen Road.
According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, Brookens told police he had fabricated the story he told his father and was planning on running away from home.
Police took him home safely to his parents. No charges are expected to be filed.
Brookens went missing from the Three Rivers Weslyan Church Wednesday night. Brookens apparently called his father and told him someone was trying to break into the building and came after him with a crowbar.
Deputies found Brookens' car, a Gold 1996 Mazda 626, Thursday morning at the Johnny Appleseed Park boat ramp, at 1600 Coliseum Blvd.
