Casa Grande had credit card security breach

BBB says breach fixed; restaurant not at fault

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Casa Grande recently had a security breach on its credit card system.  A couple people first told us of the problem using the Report !t feature on WANE.com.  But leaders with the Better Business Bureau said the breach has been taken care of, and the restaurant was not at fault.

Marjorie Stephens, director of marketplace services with the BBB, said the restaurant's credit card system had been hacked sometime from September to October.  Stephens said customers had credit card information stolen electronically during that time.

There’s no word on how many customers were affected or if any money had successfully been stolen.  A manager at Casa Grande thinks around 20 people had called in with complaints.

Stephens said Casa Grande’s credit card system was reportedly hacked by an outside party.

“They got it fixed immediately.  As soon as they knew it was a problem, they got it fixed.  And so there doesn't seem to be any issues going on right now,” Stephens said.  “Always check your receipts.  If you're paying on a credit card, check your receipts and keep those at least until your statement comes in and make sure that everything is apples to apples.”

Anyone who ate at Casa Grande between September and October, and had unknown charges on their credit card statement, is advised to call their credit card company.
