Therma-Tru expansion to add jobs

Expansion of Howe facility possible by grant

HOWE, Ind. (WANE) - The LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation (LCEDC) has awarded a grant to Therma-Tru Corporation allowing the company to expand and add 40 jobs to its Howe, Indiana facility.

The $40,000 grant will allow Therma-Tru to install some light manufacturing equipment and distribution capacity for the Fypon brand, a business segment of the company.

The Howe facility is fully operational as of 2010, and Therma-Tru has signed a long-term lease in the 347,000 sq. foot building. The current building employs about 60 people.

The LCEDC pledged the grant to help the company transition into LaGrange County. The money comes from the LaGrange County Investment Fund, the first use of the fund to attract large private companies to invest in the county.

In 2009, Therma-Tru's Butler plant expanded, adding 150 jobs over two years. Governor Mitch Daniels and the State of Indiana offered an incentive package, including up to $1 million in performance based tax credits.
