The recently remodeled Scott's Food Store on West State Boulevard in Fort Wayne has become a Kroger store.
Kroger owns Scott's and has kept the name on several of the grocery stores in northeast Indiana.
According to a Kroger spokesperson, when the company does a major remodeling or makes a major investment into a grocery store they look at market research to see if customers will be comfortable with a name change. Changing the store to Kroger makes the company more efficient when it comes to marketing and promotion. The goal is not to change all non-Kroger stores to Kroger.
It also allows for the streamlining of store brand products since all Kroger owned stores carry store brand products under the Kroger name.
The grand opening of the Kroger on West State is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on January 26, 2012.
Kroger bought the Scott's grocery chain from Supervalu in 2007.
