Nisco closed in Fort Wayne; customers want money back

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Nisco, known for selling pools and patios and then turning into a Christmas paradise during the holidays, has closed its doors in Fort Wayne.  According to the Northern Indiana Better Business Bureau, customers have called in with complaints about money tied up with the company.

Northern Indiana Swimming Pool Corp. ( Nisco) had two locations in Fort Wayne.  The store at 5002 Decatur Road has a sign on the door that says, "Closed for the season (reopen in February).  Call our north store (260) 432-0242.  NewsChannel 15 called the number Thursday and it led to what sounded like a computer trying to connect to dial-up internet.  There's another sign on the door posted by a man petitioning to get his money back.

The store at 5327 Coldwater Road has a sign on the door that says, "Closed.  Preferred customers watch for a letter in the next few weeks.  Thank you."

Leaders at the BBB say they have had multiple calls from customers trying to contact the company to get their money back.  One is said to have paid in full to have their pool table fabric refinished.  Another man said he purchased a pool in the fall and the company was holding it for him.  But he also can't get in contact with Nisco.

Nisco formerly had an A+ rating with the BBB.  There's now an alert for the business on the BBB's website.

The BBB has been unsuccessful in reaching the pool, patio, and Christmas company.

NewsChannel 15 contacted the man said to be Nisco's owner.  When asked why the company is closed, he had no comment.

If customers have money tied up in Nisco, the BBB advises them to call the Indiana attorney general's office.  If Nisco declares bankruptcy, customers could get money back if they had a down payment at the store.  If not, the BBB said customers could be out of luck.
