Working meth lab found at Lake Wawasee

CROMWELL, Ind. (WANE) - Three people were arrested over the Thanksgiving Holiday after they were found with a meth lab in a mobile home on the east side of Lake Wawasee Friday.

The Kosciusko County Drug Task Force got a call from a citizen around 9:00 Friday night reporting the smell of ether at 9792 East Chickadee Drive in Cromwell, Indiana.

When officers arrived, they found a working meth lab once they were inside the home.

James Leo Charters, 38, who lives at the E. Chickadee Drive home, was preliminarily arrested for dealing methamphetamine with no bond granted. Charters was also arrested on an outstanding failure to appear/felony theft warrant from Elkhart County as well as a warrant from LaGrange County on non-payment of child support.

Also arrested was David Jeremiah Gaff, 31, of 9565 E. Wawasee Lane, Syracuse, on preliminary charges of dealing methamphetamine, also with no bond, was charged with failure to appear for a misdemeanor warrant from Kosciusko County.

The third person arrested was Alexis Erin Riley, 24, of 117 N. Huntington St., Syracuse. Riley was preliminarily charged with visiting a common nuisance and held on a $350.00 bond.

Indiana State Police were later called to clean up the lab from the mobile home.

Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers stated that the investigation is continuing with more information and tips provided over the holiday weekend.
