BURKET, Ind. (WANE) - Florida officials took a Kosciusko County man into custody Wednesday who is possibly responsible for several local burglaries as well as the theft of a Harley Davidson motorcycle in July from the Burket area.
Law enforcement officers in Lantana, Florida, arrested Franklin Lloyd Seeley, II, 37, Burket, Indiana, after finding him at a grocery store still driving the motorcycle that he allegedly stole on July 6.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies were originally called to a burglary call on that date at 7477 South Beaver Dam Road, Claypool, where a 2001 Harley Davidson Soft Tail motorcycle and a 2006 Suzuki ATV/4-wheeler were stolen.
During the investigation, officers from Mentone Police Department received information that the suspect, Seeley, might be living with family in Marion, Indiana. Officers from the Kosciusko County went to the Marion location and located a meth lab, but not Seeley.
Police found information that suggested he might be living in the West Palm Beach, Florida area and immediately contacted law enforcement in that area. K.C.S.D. Det./Sgt. Joe Mooney said that Florida officers found Seeley driving the stolen motorcycle in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store.
Sgt. Mooney said that Seeley is also a suspect in several other burglaries in the southern portion of Kosciusko County. He is currently being held in Florida on a local warrant for possession of cocaine as well as burglary charges from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. Seeley was currently out on a $15,000 bond for burglary stemming from a May arrest in Kosciusko County.
