FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -

Matt Kelty says he's not ready to respond to the release of e-mails that drove him to plead guilty on Monday. He'll hold a news conference Wednesday morning though. Details have not been released yet.

The e-mails are between Kelty and two of his campaign supporters.

The big question is what was the content of the Email that swayed Kelty to change his 14-month plight to maintain his innocence? The state says the content proved Kelty knew of wrong doing in how he reported his campaign finances, and tried to cover it up.

The charges against the former Fort Wayne Mayoral candidate center around how he reported campaign contributions from Glenna and Steve Jehl and Fred Rost. The state brought charges against Kelty, saying he knew some of the money had come from a man named Don Willis, and didn't report it as such.

In an Emil dated April 16th, 2007, Rost suggests a plan to keep Willis' name out of campaign reports. He then advises Kelty to "discuss with Willis before you pull the trigger. Tell him you are trying to protect his confidence."

In another Emil, again dated on April 16th 2007, Rost writes to Glenna Jehl discussing a similar plan. In it, he makes a reference to an "NP", reasonably assumed to be Nelson Peters, Kelty's opponent in the Republican primary. Rost writes: "Ideally, anyone can claim it and no one will still know who funded it, which is the important thing because Matt promised to keep them anonymous, in large part because one of them is a big NP supporter."

Jehl responds, sounding off against the Allen County election board, and it's republican support of again "NP". The election board looked into Kelty's finances to see if he had filed them correctly. Jehl ends her Emil saying "Don't be surprised if we can't keep the lid on this indefinitely."

A letter from Jehl posted on a local blog shows a change of tune, though. An editor's note said the letter was emailed to him from Jehl. In it, Jehl says of Kelty's plea:

While this is not the outcome we were praying for, take heart, I know of two very important instances in the bible where someone was wrongfully accused and mistreated..."

The editor at that blog removed the post at Jehl's request.
