FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Officials at the Grand Wayne Convention Center marked the facility's 25-year anniversary Friday by hanging a huge banner across Jefferson Blvd.
The Grand Wayne Center was built between 1983 and 1985 just west of the Hilton hotel. Twenty years later, a $40 million expansion doubled the Grand Wayne's size to more than 200 thousand square feet. It now stretches all the way to Webster St.
The Grand Wayne Center is home to more than 400 events each year. About 45 of those gatherings are conventions.
In addition to the banner, officials are also celebrating the year by holding Grand Wayne Center Night at Parkview Field in June.
