FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)-- - Tuesday night, the St. Francis men's basketball team won the school's first ever national sports championship.

They edged Walsh 67-66 to take the NAIA Division II championship.  Wednesday night, they arrived home to a hero's welcome.

A police escort guided the Cougars home on the last stretch of their trip from Missouri back to the Saint Francis campus, where a pep rally awaited.

Some students did hit the road to watch the team take the title in person. But many more were cheering the Cougars on from home. This rally gave the team a chance to hear all that support, and that meant the world to these players.
