STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency wants to fine Steuben County, accusing it of violating the Clean Water Act.

The proposed fines could reach a total of $250,000.

Over the past few years, the EPA says Steuben County has disturbed wetlands during three projects.

The two sides are in negotiations. At this point, the county's telling the EPA it's only willing to pay 10 percent of what's been proposed.
