Cyclist hit and killed by pickup truck

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal bicycle crash that happened early Wednesday evening.
According to investigators, 42-year-old Menno Schwartz was riding his bike along Thimlar Road when he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck around 5:15.
Emergency crews responded within minutes however Schwartz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver up the pickup truck told investigators that he simply took his eyes off the road and didn’t see Schwartz.
The accident remains under investigation by the Allen County FACT team.
