FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne business owner, Bob Morris won the 84th District Republican State Representative caucus.
Morris will serve the remainder of former State Rep. Randy Borror's term. Borror announced his resignation in early July to head up a new Fort Wayne office for lobbying firm, Bose Public Affairs Group.
More than 40 precinct committee people gathered at the Allen County Republican Headquarters for the caucus beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
The original candidate list included Allen County Commissioner Bill Brown, former Fort Wayne Community School board member Jon Olinger, congressional district director Derek Pillie, and Morris.
Morris won the first round of voting with 19 votes but did not have the necessary majority needed to win. Bill Brown did not move on to the second round. He lost with five votes.
Morris was only one vote shy of a majority for the second round. The third round was between Morris and Jon Olinger.
Precinct members voted for Morris to appear on the November ballot.
He will face Democrat Evan Smith.
